Great Ab Workout + $10 = Pilates @ Seminole Studio

So, I’m on a work-out kick for the time being and am constantly trying to find different things to do.  Going to the gym and hitting the treadmill or lifting weights is not an option.  I hate working out.   Going to a class is the only way I can force myself to do it.  I pretend it’s a social gathering.  Hey, whatever works, right?  Anyway, hip-hop classes have been a preference as of late.  I get to dance, sweat, burn calories, and listen to fun music all at the same time.  But, I’ve been lacking any kind of ab work.  Summertime is coming, and my love-handles aren’t so lovely in a bikini.  What to do?

Pilates!

Michael (author of Triple M on Fridays) introduced me to the two lovely ladies who teach pilates at Seminole Studio in the Virginia Highlands.  I’ve wanted to do pilates for a while now, but the classes have always been too expensive.  I’m sorry, but I don’t want to pay $20 for a class that I’m just trying out.  I also don’t want to walk into a class full of hard-core fanatics that will make me feel like the child left behind.  Turns out, this place is a perfect fit!

The classes are only $10!  The studio is on a side-street off of Ponce between Briarcliff and Freedom Pkwy.  Debbie and Maureen just started the classes this month, so you get to feel like you’re a part of something new and exciting.  It’s always great to be a part of the growth of new things.  I took a class last Saturday and left feeling like jell-o, which is the way I know the work-out was a good one.  Today, I’m soooo feeling it.  Sore abs.  Big time.  Thanks to Debbie!  It was a friendly class (I had to get special instructions throughout, i.e. I suck), a work-out well worth the money, and it all happened in a really nice, cozy studio.  I definitely recommend you try it out!

Seminole Passport

The Seminole Studio offers a variety of classes.  You can buy a “Seminole Passport” that includes 10 classes for $90.  You can only go to 3 of the same class, and it expires March 31st.  So you can do 3 pilates classes, and use the remaining 7 to explore different things.  They have a Zumba! class (Latin cardio, Reggaeton, Hip-hop and others all into one), Yoga for Climbers, Nia (based in dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts), and others.

Summary: Try out the $10, sexy ab-making pilates class at Seminole Studio.  While you’re there, check out the other classes they have.  Go!
