.::lips move… they say… it’ll be ok::.

yes, i’ve talked about these crazy kids many a time but felt a need to share the wealth again with ya today. guster‘s been around for quite some time, doin’ the jam band thing like so many others and developing quite the cult following. we were fortunate enough to be thrown on a cruise ship with these guys (oh yeah, along with john mayer & o.a.r., what a horrible ride :) ) last spring and get the up-close-and-personal experience that everyone dreams of having. i mean, we even got to play flip cup with them!! *sigh* i will miss these days when i get older. for those of you who just wanna hear some music this mornin, it’s comin up in a few short sentences. those of you that need some band history (and find yourselves totally incapable of directing yourselves to wikipedia for these answers): guster is made up of four fun jews who met at tufts university in the early nineties and have been hangin out musically ever since. they tour a lot and have a lot of circulating live music (my favorite) and a huge number of grassroots fans. i may have developed my intense love for bongos thanks to these guys (and to the song “demons”). i can’t wait to see them again… in addition to the cruise, they played a little outdoor music festival in atlanta last june (yep- read the article- i was there- front & center) and, seeing as they’re set to release their sixth studio album this spring, i’m sure we’ll be seeing them again soon. don’t miss their show- full of energy and great music, including the three favorites i will now allow you to listen to (you’re welcome, world!):

“come downstairs & say hello”
no doubt one of my favorite of their songs, partly because of the wizard of oz references & partly because i can’t help but dance.

“demons”
bongos. ’nuff said. i heart you brian rosenworcel. (the magic moment is at about minute 2:49… actually that’s magic moment #1. magic moment #awesome is 3:05. find it!!)

from youtube

“airport song”
because you’ll be selling books at the airport. “we’re trippin balls, yo!”

i’m sure you’ve heard some of their so-deemed “radio worthy” songs such as “fa fa,” “satellite,” and “amsterdam,” but i think after hearing the above three songs you will perhaps wanna check out more of the goodness. also, please, PLEASE do yourselves a favor and listen to their cover of “(nothing but) flowers,” a talking heads song. you’ll thank me later. have a great week, y’all, and if you’re still contemplating going to bonnaroo, now’s the time to get your tickets. third tier is sold out and the rest will be gone soon. so excited that (most of) my homies are coming with! gonna be the time of our lives, peeps. starting next tuesday i’ll start breaking down these festivals (no worries, coachella, i haven’t forgotten about you..!) for us and getting us all excited about the madness that will become The Year of Music. w00t! speaking of which: fellow dmb fans please remember that tickets for his 7.27 show at lakewood go on sale friday, and i won’t be able to bail you out this year. get on that.

peace,
james
